Athletic Supervision Requirements

Athletic Event Supervision Requirements

The safety and well-being of our students are a priority for the Avondale Elementary School District (AESD). To ensure a safe and positive environment at all District athletic events, AESD is establishing consistent expectations for students attending athletic events as spectators.  All students attending AESD athletic events must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or adult designated by the parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years of age. The designated adult must remain with the student and provide supervision for the entire duration of the event.

Student Attendance Expectations
To help ensure the safety of all students, the following expectations will apply at AESD athletic events:

  • Students may not attend athletic events independently or be dropped off without their designated adult.
  • Students must arrive at and leave the event with their parent, legal guardian, or designated adult.
  • The designated adult must remain on-site and supervise the student for the entire event.
  • Students may not leave the event independently or with another person who is not the adult responsible for their supervision.
  • Students may not remain on campus unsupervised before, during, or after the event.
  • Students are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior, sportsmanship, and respect for players, coaches, spectators, and staff.

Admission and Supervision
Students who arrive without an accompanying parent, legal guardian, or designated adult who is at least 18 years of age will not be permitted to enter the event.

If a student becomes separated from their designated adult, event personnel will assist in locating the adult. The student will remain in a supervised area until the adult is located. If a student is left without appropriate supervision, school administrators or site coordinators will contact the parent or legal guardian and follow established procedures to ensure the student's safety.

Compliance and Future Attendance
School administrators and site coordinators will communicate and enforce these expectations consistently across AESD athletic events. Students and adults who do not comply may be asked to leave the event. Repeated or serious violations may result in restrictions on future attendance, consistent with District procedures and applicable requirements.

We appreciate your partnership in helping AESD provide safe, welcoming, and enjoyable athletic events for our students, families, and community. Your cooperation and active supervision help ensure that everyone can enjoy these events while keeping student safety at the forefront.

Thank you for your continued support of AESD.
